Goodreads: How far would you go to find THE ONE? One simple mouth swab is all it takes.  One tiny DNA test to find your perfect partner – the one you’re genetically made for.  A decade after scientists discover everyone has a gene they share with just one person, millions have taken the test, desperate to find true love.  Now, five more people take the test. But even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking – and deadlier – than others… A psychological thriller with a difference, this is a truly unique novel which is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat.

My Review: I would like to thank Netgalley, Penguin Random House UK, Ebury Publishing and John Marrs for allowing me the opportunity to read an ARC of The One. I can confirm that I chose to read this ARC and all opinions in this review are my own and are completely unbiased.

This novel is an eye popper!! The whole idea of having someone else in the world with the same DNA as you is freaking scary. Not to mention, that this match with be yours forever if/when you meet them with a connection so strong, you’ll fall instantly in love, which will last forever (or will it)? … Scared yet?? Yeah, thought you would be. I was!!!

The novel follows five characters who each find their match, but is finding their match all they could hope for? Can there be such a thing as happy ever after? Can the grass be greener on the other side? In The One John Marrs makes what I thought was unbelievable, believable. With alternating chapters for each character which all end with jaw dropping cliff hangers and/or conclusions, I couldn’t stop at any point as I needed to know what happened next to each of them.

With a mix of romance, crime and science, this novel is truly amazing and when released I can honestly say it will unleash plenty of chit chat amongst its readers and reviewers – it’s a great book club discussion point!
